Clegg calls for decade of employee share ownership
The Deputy Prime Minister called for a ‘decade of employee share ownership’ in a speech to CentreForum, the liberal think-tank, and the City of London Corporation on January 16. This follows a report published by CentreForum on employee engagement. The ESOP Centre will give evidence based on its own report to the Lib Dem’s policy working group later this week to help develop lasting policy with which to encourage the spread of employee share ownership. Malcolm Hurlston welcomed Nick Clegg’s support, but said political support was only half the battle. Companies need to celebrate their own share schemes for full effect. You can read Clegg’s speech or coverage in the Guardian, Telegraph and many others.
